Mini Cassia Sugar Factory, Idaho, USA
Good News!
Amalgamated Sugar is leading the way to become more energy efficient and reduce emissions.
Recently Amalgamated placed order by EnerDry for a new steam dryer size J.This is the world’s biggest pulp steam dryer, that can evaporate up to 71 t/h of water from the sugar beet pulp. The dryer will be placed at the Mini Cassia plant, near Paul, Idaho.
This dryer alone will make a yearly savings of more than 25% reduction in factory fuel, and thereby reduce CO2 emissions by more than 40.000 tons per year.
Kasper Gehl Larsen, CEO of EnerDry said: “ We are very happy and proud that Amalgamated Sugar has decided for this new EnerDry Steam Dryer size J for Mini Cassia. We have already had a very good cooperation with Amalgamated Sugar for almost 20 years. In 2005/2006 we installed a similar steam dryer at the Nampa, factory”
Amalgamated Sugar Director of Engineering Eric C. Erickson: This is an exciting project for our company. We are pleased to announce this project does qualify for a US federal energy savings tax credit based on the total reduction in factory fuel greenhouse gas emissions. Our plan is to break ground early 2025 and commission the dryer in by March 2026.
